Of the different elements involved in endurance sports such as sufficient training and proper nutrition, perhaps the most important is mind over matter. This is the ability of the mind to ignore the “suffering” that comes with pushing the body to its limits and quietly and rationally talking oneself through the discomfort to reach the goal. This principle can be applied to almost any challenging endeavour, athletic or otherwise.
The lemon is a delicious, vibrant fruit which is extremely versatile and can add a fresh, tangy flavour to many dishes. On a recent cycling trip to a lemon grove in Italy, an area which claims to be the home of the true lemon, we learnt more about the journey of a lemon long before it reaches the supermarket shelves.
